Fieldwork on Irish peatlands

Field work is a huge part of the PCARB project. As we are striving to piece together the history of past carbon across different climate regimes in Ireland, we must travel to remote corners of the country to find just the right peatlands. We also need to prepare for all kinds of weather and rough terrain while collecting the peat samples. Much of the time, the sites involve several kilometers of hiking up mountains, all while carrying very heaving coring equipment! However, the views can sometimes be amazing!
